What:

Scouting For Food

A Cub Scout promises to
"Give Good Will"
and
A Boy Scout promises
"to help other people at all times."

What better way to show our Scouting Spirit than by participating in the annual Circle Ten Council Scouting For Food drive?

Scouting for Food is an annual food drive sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America and Circle Ten Council. It is the largest door-to-door food collection effort in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and one of the largest food drives in the nation. Overall, Scouting for Food has collected almost 10 million cans of food for North Texas food banks.

On Saturday, February 12, 2011, approximately 30,000 Scouts will go door-to-door collecting non-perishable food items which are then distributed to over 45 local assistance agencies and food pantries across Circle Ten Council. The goal is to place a bag on every single door step within the Circle Ten Council, which covers 12 counties-11 in north central Texas and one in Bryan County, Oklahoma and 19 separate geographical districts.

The goal for the 2011 Scouting for Food Drive is to engage every Unit to participate and to challenge each Unit collect 100 more cans of food than they did the previous year. Our North Trail District goal is to collect 50,000 cans of food this year. The food items collected from North Trail District directly benefit Network Community Ministries in Richardson and The Salvation Army. This year, area food banks face their worst shortage in years due to the economy. Scouting for Food, Circle Ten Council and the North Trail District Scouts can help alleviate that shortage.
